Merry Christmas from the whole DAM team
Merry Christmas from the whole DAM team
With life forever moving at 100 miles per hour, it’s easy to get caught up moving onto the next big task, project or challenge, forgetting to take a moment to actually reflect on our past achievements and celebrate how far we have come. So, before we get distracted by our final workload of 2019 and caught up in festive celebrations, our team here at DAM wanted to take a moment to reflect on our past year. Take a quick break (who even does work this close to Christmas anyway??) and join us as we recap on the three main factors that our DAM team think sums up our year accurately:
Growing: Throughout the past year, we have continued to expand our business, both internally and externally. As well as welcoming some new team members: Kimberley and Suzanne (Corporate Pensions Administrators) we have also continued to expand our wealth of private clients, as our team of advisors continue to work closely alongside our clients to prepare them for their financial future, and help them to achieve their greatest hopes and desires for their ‘golden years’. And with many of them now nearing retirement age, or having actually retired this year, we have greatly enjoyed moving onto this next stage of their life alongside them, continuing to manage their finances as they embark on an entirely new journey – whether that’s travelling, taking once in a lifetime trips, or simply spending time with family.
Gathering: This year has undoubtedly been a year of great events. Following the success of our first DAM Wealth dinner last year, DAM hosted three Wealth dinners throughout the year. Held in some of the most prestigious venues of our Corporate clients, Hotel Du Vin (Glasgow), Malmaison (Manchester) and The Dorchester (London), each dinner allowed us the opportunity to eat great food, drink great wine and share all-encompassing plans for the future with one another, as our guests were encouraged to think forward into their specific plans for retirement. As well as of course relish in the breath-taking decor - from the rustic whisky rooms in Hotel Du Vin through to the penthouse and terrace area at the Dorchester.
On our corporate side as well, this year has presented DAM with some fantastic opportunities to further solidify our position within the hospitality industry, as we have had the opportunity to sponsor a number of fantastic awards throughout the year. Just recently, DAM sponsored the Leadership and Development Award at the HRH Awards, with our very own Alex Keddie presenting the award on the night. Having also sponsored the Catey Awards, I was fortunate enough to present the award for the winner of the HR Team of the Year at the Hotel Caterer Event in London this November.
And having spent the past 6 months carrying out first hand research into the impact of the Millennial Generation on the workplace, we recently hosted our very own ‘Eat and Educate’ session in collaboration with HR in Hospitality. Held at the spectacular Corbin & King in November 2019, our event - complete with a panel of leading HR experts - was intended to provide an in-depth insight into the needs and priorities of modern-day employees, providing discussion and debate on some of the leading trends and topics from our research findings. (Watch this space in 2020 for our very own published booklet, covering our research findings, as well as an overview of the panel discussion and insights from a range of leading HR experts!)
And last but not least, giving
This year was certainly a year of giving for DAM. As well as numerous trips to Rothesay to support the fantastic team at Calum’s Cabin, DAM were also fortunate enough to get involved in an array of other charitable events throughout the year. More recently, our team rallied together to support one of our corporate clients, Village Hotels, in their 'Hope for a Coat' campaign, collecting warm jackets and clothing for the homeless as the colder nights drew in. Just this week, we were thankful to be able to support them in providing warm Christmas Dinners and gifts to over 200 inidividuals in Glasgow City Centre. And in the spirit of giving at Christmas time, we traded in our usual ‘Secret Santa’ gifting this year and instead donated money to the Tron theatre to help provide under privileged children with a goody bag and Theatre Trip this festive season.
We are deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of some really great charitable causes this year, and already look forward to continuing to provide our help and support in 2020.
So, as we close another successful and busy year here at DAM all that is left to say is a massive Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you – whom without your support and trust we would have been unable to achieve half of what we have this year.
We wish you all a great festive season and looking forward to continuing to develop our relationship with you in 2020.
